Laurel Hill Plantation Overview
Established in 1988, Laurel Hill Plantation was one of the first neighborhoods developed on the west side of the Goose Creek Reservoir, just off Foster Creek Road. Most of the community took shape between the late 1980s and early 1990s, guided by a vision to create a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood free from the traffic congestion and overdevelopment seen in other areas. The developer achieved a thoughtful balance, offering a relaxed, almost rural atmosphere while still providing convenient access to major shopping centers, top-tier medical facilities, restaurants, entertainment, schools, and churches. Though surrounded by the cities of Goose Creek and Hanahan, Laurel Hill Plantation remains unincorporated within Berkeley County. Today, of the 136 parcels that make up the neighborhood, just a few undeveloped lots remain, with new home construction still periodically occurring.
Community and Amenities
Laurel Hill Plantation offers several shared common areas, including its own private boat landing that provides residents with direct access to the Goose Creek Reservoir, popular for its excellent fishing, boating, and nature-watching opportunities. In 1989, the Laurel Hill Plantation Homeowners’ Association, Inc. (HOA) was established to oversee and maintain these communal spaces. Operated as a non-profit South Carolina corporation, the HOA is made up of property owners who are committed to preserving the community’s value, character, and quality of life. Rather than employing an outside management company, the neighborhood is self-managed by its residents, fostering a simple, friendly, and efficient approach to community governance.
